No terminal neededFicus Desktop is for Macs with Apple Silicon. On Linux or Windows, use the setup command below.
Ficus Desktop includes its own database and runtime, so there’s no Docker or Node.js to install. Agents run as your macOS user.
Run the setup command
macOS · Linux · WSL 2curl -fsSL https://ficus.sh/cli/setup.sh | bash
Paste into your terminal. Choose a runtime, review the setup plan, and open the local URL when it’s ready.
What you’ll need
- Node.js 24 LTS (minimum 22.19),
curl, andgit. - Docker running for the default PostgreSQL database, including when agents run on the host.
- A model-provider account. Connect your credentials in Ficus; provider usage is billed by your provider.
- On macOS, an active desktop login. On Linux or WSL 2, a working systemd user session.
Setup installs the CLI and Bun if needed, builds Ficus, and starts its services. The first run can take several minutes. The runtime you choose determines what agents can access; host mode runs commands as your user.
Self-hosted on your machine. No Ficus Cloud subscription needed.
